Essex Cricket history

Essex County Cricket Club, established in 1876, is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs in the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. Initially holding minor county status, the club was promoted to first-class status in 1894 and entered the County Championship the following year. Essex County Cricket Club represents the historic county of Essex and has a proud history in the sport.
